Doors are 9

Sarah Hughes w/ Joe Lally and Jerry Busher

The Owners - DC punk scene veterans in a female fronted, melodic punk/power pop group featuring members of Ex Hex, The Shirks, Gray Matter, Iron Cross, and The Problematics (among others). The Owners are Dante and Catherine Ferrando, Laura Harris, and Alec Budd.

Quattracenta - The trio’s name is a feminized reference to an Italian cultural movement of the 1400s — the Quattrocento — which saw the end of the Medieval period and the dawn of the Renaissance. Like an early Renaissance painting, the music of Quattracenta is grand, saturnine, and cathartic.

Quattracenta formed in 2016, after guitarist/vocalist Sarah Matas (Home Recording Project) moved from Chicago to Baltimore and began to connect with other experienced local players, including bassist Christian Sturgis (The Uniform, Lo Moda) and drummer Andrea Shearer (Saddle of Centaur, Pariah Piranha). In the ensuing years, Quattracenta has toured the mid-Atlantic region and become a staple of the live music scene in Baltimore, performing venues like Ottobar and the Baltimore Soundstage.

Drawing on elements of post-punk, no wave, dub, and psychedelia, Quattracenta’s moody, genre-expansive music echoes influences like Slint, Earth, PJ Harvey, and The Birthday Party, anchored by Matas’ yearning guitar and lyrical meditations on mortality, and framed by Sturgis’ distorted, writhing bass lines and Shearer’s spacious, minimalist drumming.  Together, Quattracenta establishes a riveting and dramatic atmosphere on every stage they occupy.

Offstage, the trio’s easy personable demeanor stands in contrast to their music, showing a band in which friendship fuels the collaboration.

“We have a bond in knowing we all feel similarly, that making music is a place of refuge. Our music is a product of our emotional fragilities coming to light, bred out of a trust and support for one another in our most vulnerable states,” says Matas.

Their most recent record "II" was produced by J Robbins (Jawbox, Government Issue)
and was released on October 16, 2020 by Bob Nastanovich's (Pavement, Silver Jews) Brokers Tip label, with distribution via Dischord Records Direct.

LiButti/Leguía/Nadien is a working trio made up of some of NYC’s finest improvisers; all three of them preparing their instruments with an extraordinary assortment of different objects to create some truly mind-bending textures. Chris LiButti - prepared guitar; Teté Leguía - prepared electric bass; James Paul Nadien - drums and percussion

Plutonian Burrito are a Panhandle/New Orleans based improvisational duo blending and deconstructing multiple genres in search of the humorous and unknown. Formed in 2013 by Charles Pagano - drums; and Scott Bazar - guitars, homemades, and animations.

Jenny Moon Tucker primarily plays Alto Sax and percussive textures sourced though a variety of scrappy tools and contact microphones. Through play she coaxes voices out of objects that speak to her. She currently performs and records by herself and in various collaborations in the Baltimore and DC area.

Hughes/Lally/Busher Trio @ Takoma Station

My trio with Joe Lally on electric bass and Jerry Busher on drums playing two sets of tantric psychedelic jazz.

Joe Lally has played bass in Fugazi since the band’s inception in 1987. In 2003, the members of Fugazi decided to take an indefinite hiatus from recording and performing. Since that time, Joe has continued to write and perform solo material, accompanied by various musicians and friends.

Joe has released three solo albums -- “There to Here” (2006), “Nothing is Underrated” (2007), and “Why Should I Get Used To It” (2011).

Joe's albums are never really solo efforts; rather they feature collaborations with fellow musicians who use his bass-lines as an anchor. "There To Here", recorded at Dischord House and at Inner Ear Studio by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara, features contributions from Jason Kourkounis (Hot Snakes), Jerry Busher (French Toast), Danny Frankel (KD Lang), Eddie Janney (Rites of Spring), Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), Ian MacKaye (The Evens, Fugazi), Amy Farina (The Evens), and Scott "Wino" Weinrich (Spirit Caravan, Hidden Hand).

"Nothing Is Underrated", Joe's second album, was recorded in the summer of 2007, also at Dischord House and at Inner Ear Studio, and also with Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara. The album was mixed by Ian and Guy Picciotto and features contributions from Ben Azzara (Capitol City Dusters), Andy Gale (Haram), Eddie Janney (Rites of Spring), Sam Krulewitch and Ricardo Lagomasino (Capillary Action), Ian MacKaye (Fugazi), Devin Ocampo (Medications) and Guy Picciotto (Fugazi).

For “Why Should I Get Used to It”, Joe settled in with a more traditional line-up featuring touring mates guitarist Elisa Abela and drummer Emanuele Tomasi. The album was recorded in Rome, Italy and released on Dischord in conjunction with Joe’s imprint, Tolotta Records.

Jerry Busher is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist. (Fidelity Jones, Las Mordidas, The Spinanes, Allscars, Fugazi, John Frusciante, Deathfix, Sunwolf, Penguin, Fanoplane)
